About Learning from History – Photographing Plants and Gardens

As founder and now judge of International Garden Photographer of the Year, Philip Smith has viewed and appraised over 200,000 images of plants and gardens over a ten year period. This workshop will be of interest to anyone not just inspired by plants, gardens and garden photography but anyone who aspires to a deeper and richer photographic engagement with the subject of photography.

Using examples from art and photography history, together with his own work, Philip will consider how today’s photographers can gain vital insights from artists of the past and use that learning to take their photography to a new level of observation and awareness.
